ROBERT JOHN EVANS. ROME, ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the home of Robert J. Evans, 42 years of age, of Rome, a prominent singer, son of Ellen Hughes and the late John Rathbone Evans, who died Friday night in Rome hospital, after an illness of four months.

Mr. Evans was born in North Wales, July 3rd, 1902. He came to this country in 1910 and resided in West Pawlet. He had lived in Rome for the past 25 years and was employed by the General Cable Corporation in the production engineering department. He was a member of Rome Lodge No. 96, R.P.O. Elks, Hathaway Lodge F and A.M. Dyfed Lodge, Order of True Ivorites and the foremen's association of General Cable.

Mr. Evans was a fine tenor singer, singing in the Presbyterian church choir and Rome Orpheus Male chorus and the Elks quartet.

He is survived by his mother, a sister, Miss Elizabeth Evans and two brothers, Evan R. and Hugh G. Evans.

Funeral services for Robert J. Evans, 42, of 714 West Liberty Street, prominent singer, and former resident of West Pawlet, Vermont, were held today at the home. Burial was in Rome cemetery. Mr. Evans died Friday in Rome hospital after an illness of four months.

Mr. Evans, employed as a foreman at the General Cable Corporation for many years, was a member of Rome lodge, 767, BPO Elks.

Born in Crugan Ganol, North Wales, he came to this country with his parents, Mrs. Ellen Hughes Evans, and the late John R. Evans, when hw was eight years old. They settled in West Pawlet. He had been a resident of Rome 25 years.

Other survivorss besides his mother are two brothers, Evan R., and Hugh B. Evans, and a sister, Miss Elizabeth Evans, all of this city.
