Mrs. Evan Jones, 84, died in her home 404 Mortimer, May 1st, 1946, after a lingering illness.Elizabeth Hughes was born in Clynnog, Caernarvonshire, North Wales, July 2nd, 1861, daughter of the late Ellis and mary Phillips Hughes. She came to this country and to Utica in 1889 and in July of that year was married to Evan Jones in Utica. She wa sa member of Moriah Presbyterian Church and its Ladies Aid Society and was a charter member of Gwenfron Lodge 5. OATI.
Surviving besides her husband are one son, Evan E. Jones, superintendent of schools in Port Chester and lecturer of education in New York University; two daughters, Mrs Thomas H. Kirk, Utica; and Mrs. Robert C. Macbeth, Clinton; one grandson, Lt. Robert E. Jones USNR, and nieces in Wales
