ELLIS JOHN WILLIAMS. POULTNEY, RUTLAND COUNTY, VERMONT.

Ellis John Williams, 84, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clifford Chadwick, on Wednesday, September 4th at 12:15 p.m. after an illness of several months.

Mr. Williams was born at Bethesda, North Wales on April 30th, 1862, the sixth child of John and Jane Williams.

At the age of 19 he came to this country and settled in Poultney and vicinity.

On September 20th, 1890 he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen (Nellie) Potter and they made their home in North Bend until Mrs. Williams died on June 20th, 1936.

One year later Mr. Williams moved to Whitehall to his daughter's home where he died.

Besides the daughter mentioned the survivors are two sons, William of Nashua, New Hampshire, John of Springfield, Vermont; another daughter, Elizabeth (Mrs. Wendell Massey) of Chester Depot, Vermont; one brother, Thomas C. of Poultney, Vermont; one cousin, Griffith Closs of Fair Haven. Also several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday p.m. at 2 o'clock at the home with Rev. Wesley Logan officiating. Internment was in the Hillside cemetery at Poultney.
