EVAN RICHARD EVANS. GRANVILLE, WASHINGTON COUNTY, NEW YORK.
Evan Richard Evans, 73, son of the late Hugh and Rebecca Richard Evans died at the Cambridge hospital at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 23rd.Mr. Evans came to Granville in 1889 from Wyoming, where he immigarted with his parents from Corris, North Wales. He studies pharmacy under John G. Williams, passing the state board requirements in 1901, the year he was placed in charge of thr Pember block drug store.
Dick, as he was popularly known among his many friends, had the distinction of having charge of all the advance sale of tickets for Thomas A. Boyle, manager of the Penmber theatre from the day it opened in 1901 until it closed 30 years later.
During the postmanship of John G. Williams, Dick was at the post office each morning to help in sorting the mails.
In 1906 the Pember block drug store was closed and Mr. Evans rejoined John G. Williams died that year and Dick continued in business under his own name for about 30 years, closing it during the business depression and entering the Lasher drug store as pharmacist, which position he held until this spring when failing health forced him to retire.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Charlotte Ross Evans; William O. Evans, a son by a previous marriage; a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Downey of Brooklyn, two other sons, Ross of New York and Evan R. Jr., of Granville, a niece, Mrs. John Wilson of Schenectady; a nephew, Dr. Hiram Evans of Syracuse; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Stevens-Price Funeral Home with Rev. R. Lewis Jones officiating. Internment will be in Mettowee cemetery.

The funeral of E. R. Evans was held at the Stevens and Price Funeral Home, Friday of last week.The Rev. R. Lewis Jones officiated. William R. Owens, a life long friend of Mr. Evans conducted the singing and three of his favorite hymns were sung with much feeling.
The bearers were W. W. Edwards, Thomas S. Edwards, Harry K. Williams, Thomas Pickering, William R. Owens and Richard Pritchard.
The burial was in the Mettowee Valley cemetery.
