HANNAH GRIFFITH JONES. MONCLAIR, NEW JERSEY.

The funeral of Mrs. Hannah Jones, 80, widow of John O. Jones, who died unexpectedly at the home on her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Goodrich of Wells, on Wednesday afternoon, October 27th, was held Saturday, October 30th. The service was held at the McHenry and Roberts Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with her forner pastor, the Rev. R. Lewis Jones, D.D., Ballston Spa, officiating. Internment was in the Wells cemetery.

The deceased was born in Brynaerau, Caernarvonshire, Wales, being the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Griffith of the farm known as "Pentwr" in that community.

When 19 years of age she emigrated to America, coming to West Pawlet, where later she met and married John O. Jones. They spent 30 years of their married life in West Pawlet, and following that about 20 years in Montclair, New Jersey. Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Jones : They were : Lillian, now Mrs. Clifford Goodrich, Wells; Spurgeon Jones, who passed away in 1936 at the age of 33; and Mae, now Mrs. Hillyer Condit of Montclair.

After Mr. Jones' death in Montclair in 1938, Mrs Jones made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Goodrich at Wells, where she remained until her passing. She affiliated herself some years ago with the Presbyterian church in Granville, and her former pastor characterized her as one of the devout and faithful women of that church. She loved the Church because she loved her Lord.

She was a pillar of the Women's Missionary sociaety. She was a gracious woman and it would be difficult to believe that an inkind word ever passed her lips. She was a great "encourager" of her pastor, and she helped generously in every enterprise the church undertook, as well as giving liberally to the maintenance of the church and its ministry. She was faifhful to the Sunday services to the very last, being present even the Sunday before she was called to the Father's House on high.

All who knew her have lost a friend in her passing, and our sympathy goes out to her daughters and their husbands, as well as to her young grandson, John Condit. And though the passing of Mrs. Jones, as well as the many other members who have passed on during the past year, lies heavily on the church may it find comfort in the rememberance that although "God buries the workers, He carries on the work."
