JANE ELLEN JONES. COMSTOCK, NEW YORK.

The death of Mrs. Jane Ellen Humphreys, Comstock, New York, occurred Thursday evening, March 24th, after a short illness. Mrs. Humphreys was born in Wales, September 6th, 1898, and came to this country at the age of six years.

On Februsry 15th, 1919 she was united in marriage to William Humphreys in Chester, Pennsylvania, and soon they came to Granville. A daughter Margaret was born of this union but died at the age of five years, also twin sons who died in infancy.

Mrs. Humphreys was a member of the Community Baptist church and an active worker in the Red Cross group of Comstock, the Four-C club and American Legion Auxilliary of Fort Ann.

She is survived by her husband and daughter, Ann; her mother, Mrs Margaret Jones of Schenectady; two sisters, Mrs. Owen Jones of Rome, New York, and Mrs. Ivor Williams of Schenectady; three nieces, Mrs. Stewart Jones and Miss Elda Jones of Rome and Mrs. Morgan Jones of Schenectady.

The funeral services were held Easter Sunday afternoon from McHenry and Roberts Funeral parlors, The Rev. A. H. Ganourig of the Whitehall Baptist church officiating. A solo was beautifully rendered by Richard T. Roberts, Sr.

Internment was in Mettowee cemetery. The bearers were Kenneth Corlew, Elmer Blasdell, William Cointol, Daniel McMann, William Tweed and Billy McMann.

She was of a sunny disposition and the beautiful floral tribute bore silent testimony of a large circle of friends who will miss her.

I cannot say, and I will not say
That she is dead, she is just away.
With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand,
She has wandered into an unknown land,
And left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be, since she lingers there.
And you - O you, who the wildest yearn
For the old time step and the glad return,
Think of her faring on, as dear
In the love of There as the love of Here;
Think of her still as the same, I say;
She is not dead - She is just away.
