MR. EVAN JONES. UTICA ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.
Evan Jones, 85, a member of Goronwy Lodge 37, AOTI for 50 years and trustee of the Welsh Benevolent Society died yesterday in his home, 1225 Brinkerhoff, after a long illness. He lived formerly at 404 Mortimer.He was born December 10th, 1863 in Harlech, Wales, a son of the late Evan and Jane Jones. He came to Utica in 1888 and on September 18th, 1889 married Elizabeth Hughes, who died May 1st, 1946.
Mr. Jones was employed as a foundryman for the Utica Heater Company and later by Richardson and Boynton for 47 years. He retired March 20th, 1936. He was a member of Central Methodist Church.
Mr. Jones leaves two daughters, Mrs. Alice J. Kirk, Utica; Mrs. Robert C. Macbeth, Clinton; a son Evan E. Jones Superintendent of schools in Port Chester, New York, and a grandson, Robert E. Jones, Port Chester., also several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday from the Williams Funeral Home, 1115 West, with burial in New Forest Cemetery.
