THOMAS A ROWLANDS. ROME, ONEIDA, NEW YORK.
Thomas A. Rowlands, 54, Ford Stanwix School's custodian for 14 years until his retirement in 1946, died in his home, 641 Parry Street, at 1.15am today.Veteran of World War I, Mr. Rowlands is survived by his widow, the former Catherine E. Jones; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard Wojdyna and Miss Elizabeth C Rowlands; a son, Arthur T. Rowlands, all of Rome; a sister, Mrs Elizabeth Jones, and two brothers, Arthur W and Emlyn Rowlands, all of Liverpool, England.
Mr. Rowlands was born in Cwm y Glo, North Wales, on October 10th, 1895, son of Arthur and Margaret Jones Rowlands.
He went to Eaton, New York, from North Wales in 1911 and five years later came to Rome where on May 16, 1921, he took the former Catherine E. Jones as his bride. The ceremony was perfprmed by the Rev. Robert T. Roberts.
Mr. Roberts enlisted in the U.S. Army Sept 29, 1917, served in France for a year and was discharged May 17, 1919.
He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and of the Schools Custodians Association. He retired as Fort Stanwix School custodian in 1946 because of ill health.
