EDWELL WASHINGTON. PLAINFIELD, NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA.

Edwell W. Jones, 75, retired farmer and former baseball player, died Sunday in his home at Kesslersville, Nazareth R. 2.

He was one of four surviving members of original teams in the Blue Mountain league. He also played in the North Atlantic League and with a number of other teams in the Northampton County area shortly after the turn of the century.

He was a farmer in Washington township and later in Kesslersville, retiring eight years ago. Before that he worked for several Slate Belt quarries.

Born in Wales, he was a son of the late Robert P. and Mary Griffith Jones. he came to this country at an early age, settling in Bangor.

He was a member of Welsh Presbyterian Church, Bangor, until it was disbanded some years ago. His wife, Mrs. Ella Pritchard Jones, died in 1945.

Surviving are three sons, Edwell Jr., Belfast; Charles, Bangor, and Arthur, Stockertown; 10 grandchildren and five great grand-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Hough Funeral Home, Bangor.
