ELLEN DAVIES JONES. UTICA, ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.
Mrs. Ellen Jones, 88, of 1228 Brinckerhoff Avenue died April 23rd, 1959, in her home after a long illness.She was born May 31st, 1870 in Penrhyndeudraeth, Merioneth, daughter of Robert and Jeanette Davies and was educated in the schools in Wales. She married Griffith Jones on June 2nd, 1886 in North Wales.
The couple came to this country in April 1910, and settled in Utica. They lived in the Cornhill section for 50 years. Mr. Jones died in April 1952.
Mrs. Jones was a member of Moriah Presbyterian Church and its Ladies Aid Society.
She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Mary LaBelle, Chauncey P Miller and Mrs. Betty Davies, all of Utice; three sons, Robert and William Jones, both of Utica and Hugh Jones, Oneida; a sister, Mrs. Catherine Jones, North Wales; six granchildren; several great grandchildren; and a great great grandaughter and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held will be held at 10.30 Saturday from the Surridge and Roberts Memorial Home, 144 Eagle Street, with the Rev. G. John Richards, pastor of Bethesda Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are from 7 to 9 tonight and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow.
