Mrs. Hughes' Rites Held at Cambria.
Services were held January 2nd, 1964 at the First United Presbyterian Church, Cambria for Mrs. Elizabeth Hughes, 87, who passed away on December 30th, 1963.A native of North Wales, Mrs. Hughes was born on December 21st, 1876 at Dolwyddelan, the daighter of Gwen Jones Williams and David Williams.
At the age of four she moved with her parents to Rhyl in North Wales and came to the United States in 1899. The family settled in Milwaukee, where she also lived until she was united in marriage to Ellis Hughes in November of 1905.
The marriage was blessed with five children, four of whom survived. They are William David, South San Francisco, California; Gwendolyn Downes, Lac du Flambeau; June Alden, Minneapolis; and Gladys Hughes, Milwaukee. One grandaughter, Judith Alden, Minneapolis also survives. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Hugh Emrys and one sister, Annie Williams.
Active in community and church affairs, Mrs. Hughes was a member of Ramona Chapter. O.E.S., the Missionary and YDC societies of her church, the American Bible Society, and an honourary grandmother of the Girl Scouts.
Re. Robert L. Larsen was the officiating minister at the last rites. Burial was in the Cambria cemetery.
