Death Takes Ellis Williams; Was Foster Bros. Executive
Ellis Williams of 24 Leslie Avenue, retired executive of the former Foster Bros. Co., died yesterday in Faxton Hospital.Mr. Williams was born in Prenteg Caernarvonshire, North Wales, and attended County School in Portmadoc, North Wales. He moved to Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania in 1906 and xame to Utica the next year.
He had been employed 48 years by Foster Bros., and was formerly superintendent of the factory and head of the credit system. He retired as secretary when the corporation was sold in 1952.
Mr. Williams was elder emeritus of Moriah Presbyterian Church and was former clerk of session, treasurer, superintendent of the Sunday school, teacher of the adult class and a member of the choir.
He was a 50 year member of Utica Lodge, F and AM.
In 1915, he married Margaret Jones in Utica. She died in 1948. In 1952, he married Nell D. Williams of Granville.
Besides his wife,he leaves two sons, T. Owen and Norman E., both of Marcellus, and two brothers, Richard G. of Utica and William of Caernarvonshire, North Wales.
The funeral will be at 2 tomorrow from Moriah Presbyterian Church with the Rev. R. Glynn Lloyd officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
