Death Takes First Woman To Hold Office in Borough.

Mrs. Fannie Lodderhose, 88, the first woman to hold public office in West Hazleton, died Thursday at 4 a.m. at the Hazleton State General Hospital, where she had been a patient for two days. She resided with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Valovich Sr., 31 Bee Street, West Hazleton.

Upon the death of her husband Benedict, in 1953, Mrs. Lodderhose fulfilled his term as borough treasurer. He also had been a former West Hazleton councilman.

Born in Wales, the deceased had resided in West Hazleton most of her life. She was a member of Holy Trinity R. C. Church, North Laurel Street.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Leo (Betty) Valovich Sr., West Hazleton; two grandsons, Leo Valovich Jr., West Hazleton, and John Valovich, Hartland Park; five great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Maggie Roberts, in Wales.

The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Bonin Funeral Home, Second Street entrance. A requiem high mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity R. C. Church, and internment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tonight. The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock this evening.
