JOHN D. HUGHES, POULTNEY, RUTLAND COUNTY, VERMONT.

John D. Hughes, 59, husband of Agnes (Williams) Hughes, died Sunday, April 30th, in Rensselaer, New York, after a short illness.

Mr. Hughes was born in Penygroes, North Wales, December 24th, 1912, son of Hugh R. and Ann (Jones ) Hughes. He was a member of the Fort Crailo Post 471 of the American Legion Schodack Union Lodge 87, FandAM, the Masonic Square Club, St. David's Society, and the Chemical and Hose Company No. 4.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Whitford and Richard Whitford, both of Rensselaer; his mother, Mrs. Ann Hughes of Poultney; three brothers Gwilym Hughes and D. Arvon Hughes, both of Poultney, and R. I. Hughes of South Glens Falls, New York; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 3rd, at 9.30 a.m. at the Church of the Redeemer in Rensselaer. Committal services followed at the family lot in the Poultney Cemetery at noon on Wednesday.
