DAVID EMRYS ELLIS. CLINTON, ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.
David Emrys Ellis, 72, Evans Road, a retired employee of the Marcy State Hospital, died Sunday in his home after a short illness.Born in Dolgelley (Dolgellau is a town in Gwyenedd, N.W. Wales), North Wales, May 16,1902, he was a son of Evan and Margaret Richards Ellis. He came to this country in 1910. Mr. Ellis attended North Wales and Waterville schools.
On April 26, 1927, he married Dora Beck. They lived in Marcy for 40 years.
Mr. Ellis worked for the Marcy State Hospital 37 years, retiring in 1966. He was a member of the Marcy Community Church, a trustee and a member of its board, and a member of the Oriskany Masonic Lodge, the Marcy Senior Citizens and the National Association of Federal Employees.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Richard Davis Ellis of Voorheesville and Emrys Hugh Ellis of Marcy; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Maren) Greer of Danville, California, Mrs. Frederick (Joan) Jones of Alma, Michigan and Mrs. William (Dorene) Strife of Baldwinsville; two brothers, John Ellis of Pittsford and Benjamin Ellis of Sydney; 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Mr. Ellis' funeral was from the Owens Funeral Home, Clinton, and the Marcy Community Church, Marcy. Burial was in the Sunset Hills Cemetery, Clinton.
