WILLIAM J. HUGHES. HAYWARD, ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA.
MIDDLE GRANVILLE - William J. Hughes, 83, of Hayward California, formerly of Middle Granville and Saratoga Springs, died Saturday (September 26th, 1981) after a short illness.Mr. Hughes was born March 20th, 1898, in Bethesda, Wales and moved with his parents, William and Mary Elizabeth Hughes, to Middle Granville in 1911.
He was employed by General Electric Co. in Schenectady and Oakland, California, retiring from the Oakland plant in 1963.
He was a Master Mason of the Granville Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons. He was the widower of mary Ellen (Thomas ) Hughes, who died in 1968.
Survivors are a son, Ernest L. Hughes of Eureka, California; a daughter, Mrs. Robert E (Verona) Conners od Saratoga Springs; a grandaughter; two sisters, Mrs. William R. (Lily) Hughes of Middle Granville and Mrs. Arthur G. (Ellen) Qua of Saratoga Springs; a cousin and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Services were held September 29th in the Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward.
