ROBERT ELIAS ROBERTS. PROSPECT, ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK.
Robert E. Roberts, 86, passed away March 18th, 2012, at the Presbyterian Home for CNY, Inc.He was born June 1st, 1925, in Penrhyndeudraeth, North Wales, a son of Robert David and Catherine Davies Roberts.
Robert served in the British Army during World War II in the European Theatre. The family moved to the United States in 1948.
He married Catherine Jones in Capel Cerrig, Remsen. She died in 1990.
Mr. Roberts was employed at General Electric Co. in Utica and served as sexton of the Remsen First United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Remsen First United Methodist Church, St. David's Society of Utica, and Remsen Lodge 677 F and AM.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Deborah Dowd, of New Hartford; granddaughter, Kathryn Mary Roberts; half-brother, Edward A. Roberts, of Colwyn Bay, N. Wales; brother-in-law, Burton Jones, of Remsen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his son, David V. Roberts; a sister and brother-in-law, Mair and Frederick Werthman; a brother and sister-in-law, Evan Gwyndaf and Beverly Roberts; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Jones and Margaret Jones; and a brother-in-law, Owen Jones.
Interment will be in Prospect Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
